    • Night Watch, by Terry Pratchett, is a fictitious book that revolves around His Grace Commander Samuel Vimes. Vimes is a duke in the city of Ankh-Morpork and is also the commander of the city watch. He doesn’t run the city, but he guides it and keeps its streets safe. In this novel about Vimes, he is involved in a time rift, one where he gets to relive the glory days from when he was a recruit. He starts off in the present, married with a child on the way and commander of the watch. One day as [...]

    • I've been reading Sir Terry P.'s work for nearly three decades nowI've read this particular one more than once would alarm Mr to know how many times I've read and re-read the Disc-World novels. And again, this is one of his best.Apart from the premise, there is very little magic in the story line. A thunderstorm made of ambient Disc-World magic and meteorology strikes with an immeasurably powerful gigabit-thaum lightening bolt directly on Commander Samuel Vimes of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch a [...]

    • I greatly enjoy reading Terry Pratchett's work, and any Discworld book that features the Watch is a favourite. This book is no exception. The only reason I am reducing a star is because the Kindle version has some important parts missing. As any Discworld reader will know, every book has little footnotes that explain words on some pages. In the Kindle version, the * next to the words exists, but the footnotes are missing, taking away, in my eyes, an important part of the story. This is something [...]

    • Sir Terry Pratchett remains one of the greatest writers ever, not only because of his ability to manipulate languge into art, but also because he could take the most satirical of settings and spin in it a story that touches the heart, that defines the essence of humanity and good and eil in ways that almost no other writer could. Every character he writes is another lesson in what it means to be human, from Sam Vimes, the indefatigable hero of Ankh-Morpork, to Granny Weatherwax, who stared Death [...]

    • I am uncertain how to review this book. I decided to rate it 3 stars this time, not because it was bad, but because it was different. I had gotten used to the gang. The valorous Carrot, the great Vimes, the unknown Nobby, and the lazy Colon. Along with their compadres Detrius the Troll, Cheery the female Dwarf, and the rest. This book for some reason didn't. In a kind of way this book is about what will be, but from the perpective of what was. It's interesting as it shows how Vimes was thrown bac [...]
